Romi's birthday eal .. oops I mean meal

Well if not take a gander at these picture of Romi's birthday meal... 

It will take you to the long and forgotten time of ancient Greece and their full blown togas and the shenanigans that they got up to plus a bit of sleeping on Edies part!

How spiffy does the cake look ?? I can tell you it was yummy! 
I mean who doesn't love a bit of chocolate , nuts more chocolate ,  cream and berries ??? 
Oh and we can't forget the yummy pasties ! Oh my gosh they are one of the best things ever !!!

Rost Veggie filo pie

Hows your day going ??

fancy something yummy and hearty for tea ??

This could be your answer in one. Other than having a nice loaf of bread and some relish on the side.

My brother found the recipe and made it for tea one night for us which was truly lovely seeming as I do a lot of the cooking, and it was nice to have a night off .

I'm not to sure what the recipe consist of but i'll have a little bit of a guess ... from memory.

It had a lovely selection of roast veggies such as potato, sweet potato, pumpkin, capsicum, parsnip, garlic ect.. basically anything you want then you add in some wilted spinach say 400g and a block of fetta crumbled and mix it all though. 

 For the filo part I think it was about 4-6 layers of pastry, spraying with oil and putting salt and pepper to taste for each layer. And then for the Top probably 4 layers doing the same as above ?

Next grease a 24cm sprigform pan and build up the pastry up the sides and base of the tin , pour in the filling and then top with more filo, wipe the top with melted butter and sprinkle with sumac   and some dukkah. Bake for 20 minutes ish until golden.

A lovely day picnicking ....

have you been on a good picnic lately ??

Well yet again I've been packing up my lovely very old vintage picnic hamper, filled with some yummy goodies.

It was for Romi's birthday this time, lucky for me she choses to go to my favourite picnic place... wychwood! It's gardens are pretty darn lovely and very relaxing which I love.

How cool is the old ochard gate ?? I would love to have them scattered about my garden. And yet again Edie is sleeping ... like last time.

Chocolate Brownies scrummy dummy dum

Hello poppits,

In need of your chocolate fix ??? well you can't go wrong here! this will be your supper chocolate pick me up, saying that though it's not so super chocolatey that you think your going to be sick from eating it !

As some of you might know i'm a bit of a fan of pinterest it's just so much fun browsing everyones different find. Anyway back to my point I found this recipe on there one day and though it would make a nice weekend treat!

and boy oh boy did it fill that spot!

It was nice and nutty, with a crunchy top and fudgey centre 

The original recipe came from Exclusively Food and I stuck to it pretty much other than adding some extra nuts cos boy do I like nutty food and some spear milk choc chips that were floating around in the pantry! So if your keen to make some chocolately goodness head over to their web site and make these brownies and have a bit of a squis at some other recipes!

How would you describe your personal style? slightly vintage, with a splash of modern a heap of what I feel like and home crafted items  

What's one weird thing you can do? (The stranger the better!) Look after myself and family pretty darn well in the home cooked goods department .... weird... not really but how many 19 year olds do that ??

Rain or shine? rain on my tin roof during the night ....ahhhh so nice and soothing :) Rain is also lovely when I want to do some craft or sewing. But that said I love the shine and being outdoors and what not... so maybe a day filled with a few sun showers ? 

Confession time... what's a flaw of yours?   being pretty fussy about eating out and the way other people cook food ....

Favorite music?  lulling background music .... Angus and Julia Stone anyone ???

Have you ever made a decision you instantly regretted? What was it? Mostly likely bring home a pet that I wasn't meant to .... long story 

Who do you admire/look up to?  My Family and people who acheive things in life without much fuss 

You've just won an unlimited lifetime supply of... what?  You might say money .... not me Cooking ingredients would be a must cos then you have dosh to spend 

If you were an animal, what would you be? mmm there's way to mush to chose from ... but it would have to be something that has the ability to love each other in their own way.

If you knew you were going to die in a year, what would you do with your time? Make sure Edie would have the best life possible, without me around and that she would be safe and loved.

You're now a gazillionaire... where do you go to spend your money? The same place I always did before hand... what makes me so special now ???

Phobias? Not being honest to myself and situations that i'm in and can't control

where is it, and why? A peaceful little secluded greek island to be able to experience the food, culture and everything else it has to offer

I've performed a few times when I was younger but It was always more my bother and sisters thing

I've been having lots of good home made bread of late !

I've been experimenting with the olive oil ferment from the Burke St bakery cook book whilst i've been waiting for my sourdough ferment to be ready !
