Little Vintage Edie style ... Birthday edition

Hello Poppits,

this week we're running a little late with linking up with hart+sew and mama loves papa,
these past few days have just been supper busy and tiering. With all the hustle and bustle that's involved with getting a birthday ready.

That's right Edie P is the big ONE already and how has time flown by since she was born.
one of her many presents was this cute little sailor dress i got her. She has a few different sailor dresses but not one like this one and as soon as i saw it i fell in love with it and even more so seeing her in it!
I made her some indian felt head pieces to go with her tent that you can see in the background ( also a present).

day 13/365 days of new things

Hello poppits,
it's been a long day here in the fosters household ... let me rephrase   that a long week! Edie hasn't been sleeping too well and it's been busy getting ready for birthday with still more tomorrow. I didn't do to many new things that i could document today it was just a in and out day with getting food from the shops and things like that ...
I have been woking on a new character for the shop which i'm pretty exited about , i love adding all the little details in ( sorry its not a great picture the lighting wasn't great and i couldn't really be bothered, but the photo doesn't do him justice )

oh and i got my new frankie in the post today :) and now i'm off to read a few pages of this book before bed :)

day 12/365 days of new things

Hello poppits,
Edie and i had a really lovely day today, as our birthdays are only a week apart it makes for a fun week or so of cooking , eating, present opening and all round funness. today we had a afternoon tea with her 3 fairy godmothers which was really nice to catch up with them for a while, i really loved getting everything ready and making the veranda  look spiffy!

I had some help making the paper cranes and drew ideas from lots of different design blog and the likes, i was really please with how it all looked seeming this was my first time doing something like this.

 Edie loving her lili doll

Now for the party set up part ....

I kept the food simple with home brewed ginger beer , fairy bread, cloud meringues baby apple cakies...

When in came to the blowing out of the candle and eating the baby cakies, Edie got all shy and cute and snuggled into ni-nis knee before quickly grabbing a baby cakie of the plate and stuffing it into her mouth ...

as for the take home treats ... this was a last minute thought and i really loved it. Everyone got their own fabric wrapped food package with and baggage label with their name on it. inside wrapped in brown paper and tied with string was coconut ice, love heart freckles and toasted coconut rough.

day 11/365 days of new things

Hello poppits,
i tried out a few new recipes today and they all were so very yummy !
Jamie olivers flower pot bread ! these would have to be the lightest little bread bombs that i've ever eaten  that have been homemade.
Tomorrow Edie and i are having a little afternoon tea for our birthdays, I've alway loved the little apple cakeis you can get but have never been abel to find a recipe for them... but now i have and they are so much better than the ones you can buy. They were also super easy to make witch is great when you making party food.

In between cooking sessions today I went op shopping, I was trying to find some old scarves but alas none where to be found anywhere ... dam winter  but i did find  these nifty old children's books .
Look at tigger ... he looks so different , i'm not too sure what to think about him.
I would love eight pairs of these lovely shoes :)

Lastly to finish off the day we had humming bird bakery cookies ( I've never made these before and i've had the book for over a year now... shame on me) they turned out massive  like bigger than a tea plate hens being folded in half. they where so tasty and make really good cookie and ice cream sandwiches, trust me .

day 10/365 days of new things

hello poppits ....
today has been a long day and i'm well and truly read to get a few hours kip between edies night wakings.

We woke to a glorious day, the sun was beaming and happy to be out after what seemed like weeks behind rain clouds, this called for an outdoors day! As you can see from these three picture Edie had a fun day... she slept in , ate pancakes , went to the market and got to play outside in the left over rain puddles!

this my friends is my new and freshly painted old ladder that i picked up and the market today, it was painted a icky mushroom colour and defiantly needed lightening up. I have a few plans for this ladder but you'll just have to wait for that.

coconut rough and coconut ice  YES Please. i made these both out of the frankies sweet treats cook book, i hadn't cooked anything out of there yet but they worked well :)

day 9/365 days of new things

Hello poppits,
as you probably can see from the title of this post that we're up today 9 out of the big 365 !

I don't have that many photos to show you today but i did get up to a lot of new things in the kitchen in readiness for some little girls birthday but nothing was finished for todays post.... tomorrow maybe

Oh k so we all we're enjoying a ferrero rocher on a saturday afternoon like you do and i thought Edie would like to try one as she hasn't really had anything like this before ... Oh boy not only did she devour one but snuck a second and begun feverishly unwrapping it with pure excitement ! it was the cutest thing to watch, she really and i mean really love them. ( note I only had one ferrero rocher , which makes it even more gobsmacking)

Remember that post a few days back maybe day 7 ?? where i got a really cool package we'll it was the two custom Simpli Jessi  that i had ordered. They were meant to be a christmas present for Edie/ Me but i couldn't wait that long so changed it so i would be giving them to her on her birthday but with 6 days to go i couldn't wait any longer.... and Edie got an early present
Here's Dolly Lili & Edie  how amazingly spiffy are they

Apparently this is where i'm to sleep form now on ...
